If you were stranded on a desert island…and you were allowed to have just one person (as well as the other items mentioned in the famous Radio 4 programme e.g. the bible, the complete works of Shakespeare, one luxury item, your one favourite book and your 8 tunes….)
WHO would you choose to be with you on that island and why?
Please do let me know…I'd love to hear from you…
As you consider your choices and start to make your decision, would it be someone who would make quick decisions, make things happen, work things out and take action? Or might it be someone who decided primarily to make it a fun and enjoyable experience, was talkative, enthusiastic and optimistic? Or might it be someone who you know you could count on to stick with you through thick and thin - calm, methodical, relaxed and patient? Or might it be someone who you know would take care of the details. Someone who would probably have come well prepared, having anticipated the possibility of being stranded!
Think about it. Your choices will say a lot about your own behavioural preferences, tendencies and priorities and will certainly be influenced by your own DiSC style.
You might be looking for someone who is different from you, someone who complements your DiSC style. Or you might be looking for someone who is a lot like you -someone who you find it easy to understand and relate to….
This is just like our workplace preferences.
You've probably noticed that there are some people you love to work with whereas there are other people who trigger an inner groan after 5 minutes of working with them!
Unfortunately, most of the time, (unless you run your own business) we don't get to choose our work colleagues….
This is where an understanding and awareness of the DiSC model can come in so handy.
The DiSC model can really help you to understand yourself and other people so that you can have more choices! It acts as a wonderful 'de-coder' so that you can better understand those people who you might have previously found baffling. Not only that, it then guides you as to what you could do differently to get along better with your colleagues.

Let us know you're coming so we can look out for you!
I also look forward to hearing who you would most love to be stranded with on that desert island and why!
